We want you to succeed in your chosen vocation as an LGV Driver. We therefore have created a comprehensive program, designed to give you all the tools and knowledge you need, whilst building confidence and offering you full support.
Introduction to Logistics
A two-day course to give you a broad understanding of the logistics industry, and the context of a driver within it. We emphasise the importance of safety, discussing topics such as bridge strikes and drivers hours, to ensure our drivers understand the gravitas of your actions within these scenarios. We also cover route mapping, compliance, health and safety and more.
Employability
Our employability course is designed to give you confidence, and understand more about your role as a driver. You will learn what transferrable skills you have which apply to your new career, create a CV relevant to the industry, and participate in interview role-play. We also cover topics that include employee etiquette, mental health and wellbeing amongst others.
Road Safety
You will gain a Certificate of Attendance, Hazards and Risks in the workplace and Improving Safety Performance. Topics also covered are Health & Safety at work Act 1974 and Operations Regulations 1992. You will also learn more about vehicle maintenance and legal responsibilities.
Driver First Assist
As an LGV driver, you are likely to be a witness to a road traffic accident during your career. We therefore give you training on road positioning and primary scene observations when approaching an accident. This includes external certification.
Personal Budgeting & Finance
We aim to give you education around how best to manage your new salary. Modules include understanding wages (deductions, tax, auto-enrolment). Budgeting and planning to budget. Protecting your income and safeguarding your future. Savings and planning for your future. Pensions and pension planning. mportance of Wills. Finance and Mental Health
Work Experience
We aim to give all of our learners work experience, where you will shadow a professional driver and bring to life all of the theoretical knowledge you are gaining during the course. This will normally be with the employer partner who will be offering you an interview once you have completed the course, thus giving you an opportunity to meet the employer before your interview and to see what it is like to work for them.
Full Mentor Support
All of our learners receive full mentor support from day one of the program, until 12 months post-employment. The aim is to ensure that you succeed on the program and are happy in your work. All of our mentors are mental health first aid trained and are there to support you with any issues that may arise during your training and beyond.
Interviews / Induction
Upon successful completion of the Road to Logistics program, you will then go on to have an interview and/or induction with our employer partner.
