Hannah’s Fears Allayed

A photograph of Hannah gaining her Cat C+E qualification via the Colchester training program.Hannah joined our Colchester cohort last year. She had always dreamed of being a HGV driver, but as a single Mum of 4 children, money has been tight for years and she struggled to make ends meet, let alone find £3.5k for a Cat C+E licence.

Hannah won’t mind me telling you that she struggled with low self-confidence and self-worth, so the Road to Logistics program was perfect for her, as not only were we able to remove the barrier of cost, we were there to guide her through the process, allay her fears and ensure that she felt supported and, most importantly, seen. Despite her misgivings, Hannah flew through her theory and practical, passing both first time, went for an interview and landed the job straight away.

Hannah is very vocal in telling people that, without Road to Logistics, she would most likely still be on benefits and worrying about how to put food on the table for her kids. Now she is a professional HGV driver, her confidence has grown no-end, and she absolutely loves her job.

Contrary to popular belief, HGV driving is accessible to single Mums. Hannah works weekends whilst her grandparents look after her children, and then is free during the week for Mum duties!

THIS is why we do what we do. Our program changes lives. It’s that simple.
